Getting Started

How do I download and install Acceby?
Head to our Download page and select your OS (macOS, Windows, or Linux). Run the installer, launch the app, and follow the on-screen setup wizard—it's ready in under 5 minutes.
How do I connect my eBay account?
In the app, go to Settings → Accounts → Add eBay. Authorize via OAuth—Acceby securely pulls sales data without storing your login credentials. No API keys needed.
Which accounting software does Acceby support?
Acceby integrates seamlessly with GnuCash, QuickBooks, and Xero. Select your platform during setup for automated imports of transactions, fees, and payouts.
How often does Acceby sync eBay data?
Syncs run automatically every 15 minutes, or manually on demand. You'll get real-time notifications for new sales, fees, or payouts to keep your books current.
What if I encounter an error during setup?
Check our Support page for troubleshooting, or email support@acceby.com. Most issues resolve with a quick firewall check or app restart.
Why does Xero ask me to sign in every month?
Xero requires connections to be re-authorised every 30 days. This is a requirement of the Xero platform and is outside Acceby's control. You'll be need to sign in and authorize your Xero account every month to be able to continue syncing your data. Past imports and syncs will not be affected.
Is Acceby secure for my eBay data?
Yes — we use bank-level encryption (AES-256) for data in transit and at rest. eBay API compliance ensures no sensitive info is stored on our servers.
On my Mac it says "Acceby can't be opened because Apple cannot check it for malware." How do I open it?
Acceby is safe — this message appears for any app not distributed through the Apple App Store. To open it the first time: in Finder, right-click (or Control-click) the Acceby app and choose Open, then click Open again in the dialog. You only need to do this once. If you don't see an "Open" option, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll to the Security section, and click Open Anyway next to the Acceby message.
macOS asked for my login password when I first ran Acceby. Is that normal?
Yes. Acceby stores your eBay and accounting logins securely in the macOS Keychain. The first time it saves or reads them, macOS asks permission. Click Always Allow and you won't be asked again. Still stuck? Contact support.

Account & Data

Do I need an account to use Acceby?
No account required for basic use—it's offline-first. Create a free cloud account for multi-device sync and backups if desired.
How do I manage my imported data?
Use the Data Manager tab to view, edit, or export transactions. Filter by date, category, or type, and export to CSV for your accountant.
Can I delete or reset my data?
Absolutely—go to Settings > Data > Clear History for a full reset, or selectively delete entries. All actions are logged for your records.
What happens if I switch accounting software?
Easy reconfiguration: Disconnect the old integration and add the new one in Settings. Historical data migrates automatically.
How do I back up my Acceby data?
Automatic daily backups to your local drive (encrypted). Enable cloud sync for offsite storage via your free account.
What information does the Customer Records feature send to my accounting platform?
Customer Records is an optional, paid-tier feature that is off by default. When you enable it, Acceby forwards only the buyer's anonymised eBay relay email (a *@members.ebay.com address), pseudonymous username, and name (when present) to your connected accounting platform. It never forwards the buyer's real email, shipping address, or phone number. Acceby keeps no copy of this data—it passes through the sync only—and deletion is managed inside your accounting platform.
